ONPATH Releases Advanced Connection Security and Control Features for HorizON Software

HorizON 2.4 offers the highest levels of network intelligence, user simplicity, and system security to support the latest high-performance connectivity and monitoring applications.
ONPATH’s Universal Connectivity System (UCS), which includes the UCS 2900 and 3900 switching systems and the HorizON management software, delivers industry-leading Layer 1 switching scalability that addresses the ever-expanding connectivity requirements resulting from the growth in test lab and data center consolidations.
HorizON is a Linux-based server software solution that provides management and monitoring of ONPATH’s family of UCS 2900 and 3900 platforms from any local or remote location. The HorizON 2.4 release supports automated connection management from as few as 48 ports in a single rack unit, to over 100,000 ports in a meshed switching architecture, securely passing any combination of Ethernet, Fibre Channel, Serial/PDH/SONET/SDH, and OTN traffic. Each port can be individually licensed to support the industry’s widest ranges of speeds and protocols, from copper RS-232 to over 100Gbps optical Ethernet, and virtually everything in between.
HorizON Manager now also supports inter-switch connections between ONPATH 2900 and 3900 switch families, enabling our customers with seamless growth between ONPATH’s Universal Connectivity System (UCS) platforms.

Unprecedented scalability and flexibility:
- Automated connection management, from 48 to over 100,000 ports
- Supports Ethernet, Fibre Channel, Serial/PDH/SONET/SDH and OTN traffic
- Inter-switch connection support between ONPATH 2900 and 3900 switch families
Enhanced connection security and control:
- True unidirectional Simplex connections doubling port availability for monitoring applications, and preventing reverse-direction traffic anomalies
- Secure sharing of switch resources across groups via authorized user management domains
- Port Locking of switch resources to secure connections during critical monitoring or testing
Improved automation and management support:
- HorizON Management Server Redundancy supports both redundant servers and NICs
- HorizON Embedded Management option supports redundant S-Blade controllers for switching traffic up to 10 Gbps, and redundant O-Blade controllers for switching optical traffic up to 100Gbps
- Tcl function library, in addition to the existing Horizon API, facilitates integration into existing automation infrastructures
- SNMP v2/v3 traps for immediate integration into existing management platforms
- Built-in SFP on-demand diagnostics to accelerate connectivity fault isolation
